Lively Minds welcomes Nii Doodo Dodoo as Ghana Country Director
08 April 2021
Lively Minds Ghana is delighted to announce the appointment of Nii Doodo Dodoo as Ghana Country Director.
Nii, a Ghanaian national, brings two decades of leadership experience from across West Africa. Most recently, he was a manager at Solidaridad West Africa where he led the training strategy and systems for the region.
Nii has managed diverse country projects and teams for international organisations such as VSO, Restless Development, and Youth Challenge International. He has extensive experience of the education sector and working with rural and marginalised communities, as well as consultancy experience from his time with KPMG.
Nii’s leadership of the Ghana team comes at an exciting time for Lively Minds Ghana. The organisation is partnering with Ghana Education Service (GES) and a government working group to begin scaling the Lively Minds programme to 60 rural Districts by 2023.
Nii is passionate about bringing the programme to more children across Ghana:
“If you look at the development challenges that countries face, the most sustainable place to put effort is in children’s programming. That’s where it starts from. You are building a core of people who can grow up and change the fortunes of their country.”
With the programme owned and run by GES, Nii will work closely with government officials to ensure the programme is sustainably embedded in government processes and structures. This sustainable model of development is something that Nii is excited about:
“We want to support a programme that outlives those that started it. I am excited to show others that this innovative approach works, and then for us to take this model around Africa - and beyond!”
“I am very excited that this opportunity is here now and I that have a chance to make my contributions to children in Ghana, through Lively Minds. This is a commitment that excites me every day. I am delighted to be working with the team.”
Lively Minds works to ensure that children in highly deprived communities in Ghana and Uganda receive quality education and care in their early years. Working through government partnerships, we support partners to train and empower uneducated mothers to run educational Play Schemes that improve the lives and life-chances of children, the mothers and the wider community.
Lively Minds is a partnership between Lively Minds Ghana, Lively Minds Uganda and Lively Minds UK.
