our impact
- We have set up Play Centres in 36 villages giving over 5,000 children the opportunity to learn by playing with practical, stimulating and interactive educational games.
- Testimony from teachers and parents shows that those children who attend play centres are more confident, school-ready and active than their peers. Attending play centres helps children to develop key skills and to think independently and creatively.
- We have set up 7 reading schemes giving around 500 children access to reading, stories and the chance to build their imaginations.
- We have run our child sacrifice prevention programme in 36 schools and all the villages where we work in Uganda – helping communities find ways to protect their children and prevent this terrible practice.
- All of our villages have reported a reduction in childhood diarrhoeal diseases
- We have trained and empowered over 1,000 volunteers. Our volunteers tell us that have developed leadership, teaching skills and self-belief. They are increasingly realising that they can transform their own lives for the better.
- The spirit of volunteerism and participation is translating into new income-generating programmes and health promotion initiatives.
