BBC Radio 4 Appeal
We were delighted to have been selected to benefit from a BBC Radio 4 Appeal in December 2012. The appeal raised over £10,000 and we are so grateful to the BBC and all the generous Radio 4 listeners who donated and supported our work.
Thank you to Katy Hill who presented our appeal. Having hosted Blue Peter for 6 years, and now with 2 young children of her own, Katy knows full well how important early learning opportunities are. In the villages where we work in Ghana & Uganda a child’s only chance to break out of poverty is education.

Zaituna features in our Appeal. She’s raising her 6 children in a very poor village in Uganda called Kagera. There is no school in Kagera and Zaituna never learned to read or write. She used to think there was nothing she could do to give her children better opportunities. But life changed when Lively Minds came to Kagera.
Last year Lively Minds trained Zaituna and 35 other mothers to run a Play Centre to improve the education, health and well-being of the children in Kagera. This helps the mothers too – giving them childcare skills, confidence and the support of other mothers. Kagera’s Play Centre now runs 4 times a week benefiting 160 children every year!
We’re aiming to set up 18 more Play Centres over the next 12 months in Ghana & Uganda.
Once set up a Lively Minds Play Centre will continue to run for years to come reaching hundreds more children.
Just £40 could train a mother like Zaituna to run a Play Centre where she’ll teach hundreds of children for years to come.
Could you donate today to give hundreds more children happier childhoods and the ‘lively minds’ to build a brighter future?

Thank you so much from Zaituna and all at Lively Minds!
