We believe that every child must be given the opportunities to develop their skills and talents so that they have the best chances for the future. We find creative, low-cost and practical ways, using local resources, to give children living in poverty these opportunities to enable them to bring about lasting change.

We believe that people can only break the cycle of poverty if they are empowered to develop skills, vision and drive to make improvements to their community. The solutions don’t need to be complicated or expensive. We find creative, low-cost and practical ways, using local resources, to bring about lasting change. We are a non-political, non-religious organisation. We operate under the following principles to ensure our projects are workable and sustainable:

the community knows best

We work directly with deprived rural communities to help them gain what they want and need for themselves and their children.

solutions must be sustainable

We use local talent and local resources so that our programmes can be run and sustained by the communities themselves.

empowerment is key

Our programmes are designed to empower individuals and communities by giving them the skills, vision and drive to take action themselves. We simply provide the training.

creativity can solve many problems

Although the challenges are enormous, we believe there are plenty of simple and cheap methods that can dramatically improve the quality of life for children. The communities we work with have limited funds, as do we. Creative use of local resources and lively minds helps us tackle complex problems with cheap and simple solutions.

human rights must be protected

We work with some of the most marginalised and vulnerable people in the world. We want to ensure that their rights are protected. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.
